Cabinet des Médailles is a museum presenting numerous con collections and antiques with distant origins in treasuries of French kings of middle ages.
The term Cabinet in French implies that a small private room for the conservation and display of intimate works of art and private conservation rather than a piece of furniture took a stable shape. The museum collection includes all kinds of precious antiques, rare manuscripts, jewelry, carved stones and ancient coins. The collection of coins and antiques collected by the duke of Luynes entered in 1862 and set in its current location since 1917.
