The Diamond is the birthstone of April and the birthday gemstone for the 10th and 60th years of marriage. Diamonds were discovered in India in 500 B.C., and the name "diamond" comes from the Greek word "Adams" which means unconquerable - suggesting the time without end of love. Since ancient Greece, diamonds and diamond jewelry have been the customary symbol of love, and the ancients supposed they were hardened dew drops, splinters from the stars or even crystallized lightning. A diamond is the hardest substance known to human race, and is made of a crystallized carbon that has unique powers of light reflection. Since diamonds are collected of a single element, they are the purest of all gemstones.

Healing ability: Diamond is a great support for all brain diseases. It is advantageous in stomach area. Diamonds make stronger the owner's memory.

Mystical power: Diamonds give faith, purity, life, joy, innocence and regret. They assist in rising concentration and in being straight-forward and honest. It is supposed the diamond loses its brilliance with the health of the wearer, regaining it only when the owner recovers.

Diamond is an cure to poison and is capable of detecting poison by exhibiting a damp or perspiration on its surface. Supposedly, the higher quality the diamond, the better it supports these qualities.
