Greenhorn and professional rock and gemstone collectors would be able to find all types of samples at the Sac & Fox Lapidary Club's annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Sunday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

According to show co-chairman Bill Rathbun, the affair showcases the lapidary and rock collecting pastime of the club's members and offers the chance for the general public to acquire equipment and products related to the hobby, too hand-made jewelry, conversation pieces, fossils and home decorations.

It also provides a great chance to pick up superiority geodes, Iowa's state rock, he added.
