Rebel Science – A diamond is forever

Diamonds have enthralled people for about thousands of years. The ancient Greeks stated that they were shards of the heavens, which was fallen to earth, and up until the 15th century, only kings wore them as they were cipher of strength. The accessibility of these tough yet astonishingly simple gemstones has clearly increased, making them a main player in industry and, of course, the jewelry trade.

As gorgeous and as rare as diamonds have been apparent to be, a man can give a woman a set of pencils as a gift and as well claim that they are very alike to the desirable jewel. This might seem like a cheap and groundless joke, but the man will have a point.

A gem of a show

SAN FRANCISCO – “Masterpieces of French Jewelry,” opened today at the Legion of Honor for a four-month run, is amazingly, pleasantly more than simply a show of beautiful gems and precious metal (“not that there is anything wrong with that”). “Blood Diamond” proves to be a pleasant gem

The story takes put during 1999 Sierra Leone, an African country in the midst of civil war by a dishonest government and aggressive revolts over the country’s diamond trade. We’re told that millions of citizens are made immigrants by the war, many of whom have nothing to do with or have even seen a diamond.

Opal – No Hidden Gem

Opal Dream” marks the second time British movie maker Peter Cattaneo has chosen the cameras during 1997′s “The Full Monty,” and, even though the latest film is delightful enough, we’re still waiting for him to break free of his sophomore slump.

Perhaps the success of Monty, which almost had audiences doffing clothes in solidarity with its cast of sweet amateur strippers, casts too big a shadow. (The other film, 2001′s “Lucky Break,” was modeled too clearly after “Monty.”) Although “Opal Dream” marks an agreeable exit from the conventions of the British comedy — it’s based on a children’s book and set in the Australian outback — it’s insufficiently small in scope.
