Ahmedabad: In what may renew a more than four-year-old discuss about India’s likely link with the contentious Blood diamonds, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) here claims to have contributions about some of these gemstones being smuggled into Surat, the diamond cutting and shining hub.

Blood or Conflict diamonds create chiefly from war zones like Angola, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they are unlawfully mined and later sold out secretly. The perpetrators use the profits to purchase arms, fund civil wars and military coups not in favor of legitimate governments there.
