STUART - Four years ago, an Ex-jeweler went for an insurance claim for the thefts of diamonds and sapphires at their Sewall's Point jewelry store won Steve and Wendalyn Clark a $132,000 payout from their insurance company.
But last week, several months after a Martin County jury concluded Steve Clark staged the event, the former jeweler was verdict to 15 years in prison and an additional seven years of probation.
He sentence ends - no less than for now - the illegal proceedings involving the Clarks, whose marriage and family crumbled with the ruin of their business, their public arrests and a bombardment of lawsuits from creditors that last year encouraged a public auction of jewels from their store.
