Sri Lanka predicts its gem and jewelry exports to go up by another 10 per cent this year and assist it earn US$100 million in revenue. Sri Lanka is among the world's five top gemstones exporters and earned Rs 19.19 billion rupees in forex trading during the first five months of this year in spite of political turmoil and the war situation in the north and east. It was a 9.8 percent increase when contrasted to earnings of the same period previous year, amounting to Rs 17.47 billion. Blue sapphire, or the nationwide gemstone, is the foremost variety among the 75 different gem stones found in the country - where 90 percent of the land mass is measured potentially gem-bearing.
