Road blocking demonstrations and other different security threats did not stop some rough material like iolite and morganite (pink beryl) to reach our town.Manufacturers seem to compete again each other to be the first one to put this material on the Jaipur market as release of cut goods was quite fast.

We saw some light color morganite in sizes over 20 carats and a few lots in the 5 to 10 carats range.Iolite also is back on the market. Some nice quality is available in sizes 10 carat up and well cuts lots in many calibrated sizes are abundant.

Since a few years, supply for this material was sporadic with big differences in incoming lots, while market was looking for a steady supply. As a result, mass manufacturers discard this nice untreated and affordable gemstone from their inventories.

Now that Gujjar cast set agreement with the Indian State and released the blocking points on main roads, buyers will sure take a look at this long awaited material.
