The New York sale featuring Catherine’s great Emerald Brooch and Emperor Maximilian diamond totaled $41,246, 325 with 85 percent sold by lot and 92 percent sold by value.

The perfect heart shaped (D flawless) diamond of 28.88 carat which sold for $3,778,500 or $133,000 per carat was top of the sale. The emperor Maximilian was sold for $1.7 million to private US buyer. The Catherine great emerald brooch was sold for $1.6 million to private Middle Eastern buyer.

A rare fancy purple red diamond ring failed to sell at auction in Australia. Sotheby’s Australia was expecting a sale of ring for $700,000 and $1 million. The bidding started at $480,000 and climber to $480,000

A rare fancy purple red diamond ring was put on for sale at auction in Australia. But the ring does not reach the expected sale price. Sotheby’s Australia was expecting a sale of ring for $700,000 and $1 million. The bidding rate started at $480,000 and climbed to $490,000. As per the report, there will be some sort of negotiations behind the scenes with the seller and the potential buyers it seems.

The red diamond is a platinum ring with two blue diamond’s which weighs 82 points. Its origin was from Rio Tinto’s Argyle Mine in Western Australia in 2005. As per the report, the bid for the red diamond would have set a record for jewelry at auction in Australia.

On April 7th 2010, 5.16 ct fancy vivid blue internally flawless diamond from De Beers Millennium Collection was sold for $6.4 million in Hong Kong. The price was higher than the estimated auction value of $5.9 million. It is the first time that one of the De Beers Millennium Diamonds has put on for sale after the original placement with private collectors in 2000.

De Beers Millennium Blue exceeds the price per ct of $1.25 million per ct of Wittelsbach diamond ($680,000 per ct). Near to the record setting price of $1.35 million per ct for 7.03 ct blue diamonds and 5 ct fancy intense pink diamond sold in Hong Kong last year for $2.1 million per ct.

Contemporary & Traditional Indian Jewelry On Display

Traditional jewelry from different parts of India is expected for display on the forthcoming online auction by Saffronart on April 7 and April 8.

With a collection of 203 competitively priced lots including selection of traditional and contemporary Indian jewels, suites set with gemstones, natural pearl necklaces, watches and jeweled objects are expected to go under the sale of Rs 9.5 to 11 Crores.

This is the fourth jewelry auction taking place and this year we are focusing on period pieces from 1920s and 1930s, said Minal Vazirani Cofounder, Saffronart.

The jewelry lots include rare tanzanite and diamond necklaces estimated for Rs 26.50 Lakh and Rs 30 Lakh.
