Diamond Rings Sell for Millions at Christie’s New York Auction

Diamond rings were the top selling lots at Christie’s key Jewels Auction in New York on Tuesday, with two stick out jewels fetching over $1 million each.

The star sale was a ring with a 46.51 carat oval-cut middle stone flanked by two 1 carat pearl shaped diamonds.

The jewel, set in platinum, was knocked down for $4,226,500 a per carat price of nearly $91,000.

Another diamond and platinum ring, set with a 10.01 carat diamond and two slighter pearl shaped diamonds, went for $1,314,500.

A 19.22 carat emerald cut yellow diamond ring with a color grade of Fancy Light Yellow flanked by two trilliant cut diamonds sold for $458,500, and a colorless 10.42 carat emerald cut diamond ring was knocked down for $422,500.

While diamond rings dominated the sale, other jewels as well performed well, such as the pair of square cut yellow diamond earrings weighing over 17 carats each set in gold and platinum fetched $722,500.

In total, the Christie’s New York significant Jewels Sale brought earned over $11.7 million.

World’s sexiest woman Whiteley desires to launch her own jewellery line

Washington, June 2: The world’s sexiest woman Rosie Huntingdon Whiteley has expressed her desire to design her own jewellery line and see herself working more in fashion design 10 years down the line.

“I expect to have my own jewellery line, plus lingerie and cashmere.

That’s somewhere I see myself in five or 10 years. Designing,” Contact music quoted her as telling Elle Magazine.

Though the 24 year old model has ventured into acting with the front role in ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’, she has plans to go back to fashion eventually.

However, she is eager to develop her interests in the business side of the industry only.

Gemstone globe lamps stolen in Coventry burglary

FOUR gemstone “globe” lamps value about £3,000 were stolen during a burglary at a Coventry home.

The attractive table lamps, modeled on world globes, were stolen from a house in Bolingbroke Road, Stoke, on Saturday, March 26, after offenders damaged a rear window to get in.

The robbery happened while the owners were out, between 4-10pm. The thieves also complete off with jewellery, a TV, two laptops, cash, games consoles and passports.

The distinctive lamps slot in numerous crystals, amethysts and precious malachite stone.

All four lamps have brass stands and variety in size from 15-33cm in diameter.

Detective Constable Nicola Orr said: “These are very strange lamps modeled on a traditional world globe.

It is almost certain the offenders will try to sell them either to shops or directly to members of the public.

so I had ask anyone who has been approached to get in touch as they could have information that will help us apprehend the culprits.”

Gemstone and Jewelry exhibition held at Trade Mart

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but its shiny rocks of all shapes, sizes and colors took middle stage at the state fairgrounds this weekend.

The Greater Southern Gemstone and Jewelry demonstrate wrapped up Sunday at the Mississippi Trade Mart.

Folks were able to slam for gold and precious gemstones outside. Inside, nearly 40 vendors presented their best works of fine art.

Jewelry made of precious and semi precious stones packed display cases, but figurines, fossils and tools were also for trade. It was also a time for vendors to balance notes and skills.

“When one person goes to the jewelry school, everybody is waiting to find out what they learned to do and they lecture the whole club so you can do as much as you want to,” said Vice President of Great Southern Gem and Jewelry Shows, Sharon McClanahan.

Totally 40 vendors traveled from Texas, Louisiana and Georgia to Jackson for the annual show.

£7000 worth Diamonds stolen from Kendal jewellers

Diamonds worth £7000 were stolen from Kendal jewellers before closing moment on Saturday afternoon.

A man ran away with two 18 carat gold and diamond solitaire rings from Goldsmiths. The Jewellers, High gate, at 4.50pm after posing as a customer.

After running down the side of Burton’s men’s clothes shop he was seen getting into a grey Nissan coupe GTI coming up in Booths supermarket car park.

The ring thief is described as mixed race, 5ft 8ins tall, medium build and wearing beige flat cap, dark sunglasses, a blue shirt and dark trousers.

Anyone who saw the white male driver waiting in the car park at approximately 4.50pm is asked to contact Kendal police on 0845 33 00 247.

His vehicle registration number is EO10 DHM.
