The Nizams were among the richest people in the history with a fabulous and spectacular collection of diamonds and jewels. This stone was first in the holdings of royal families of Hyderabad, rulers of the wealthiest Mughal Empire. Nizam-Ul-Mulk Asif Jah, the first ruler of the empire passed this stone to his successors. It is 340 carat diamond and believed to be the most famous precious stone, in 1800's. The unique feature of this stone is its "almond" shape.

Origin of the diamond :

This valuable stone is originated in India, in the massive mines of Golconda, which was owned by the powerful Nizams of the Hyderabad. Later, Government of India prohibited them from removing the collection, claiming it as a national treasure. So they were forced to sell this ageless stone to much a reduced price. It is the largest and gorgeous pink diamond, which is in almond shape. This stone is also called as "prince", in the honor of a 14-years old prince of Baroda. When found, it was rough stone weighing 340 carat and later it was polished by Alexander Malcolm Jacob into 185.4 carat. Later few hands change, in 1947, this stone adorns the queen Elizabeth II for her wedding to the Duke of Edinburgh.

Christie, the famous diamond dealer, revealed this precious stone in New York auction, in 1960. Osm-Ali-Khan purchased this pink wonder by bidding a huge sum of $46,000. This stone is revealed with the unique name of "property of the gentlemen".
