Cubic zirconia is so optically lock to diamond
that only a trained eye could easily differentiate the two. There
are a few key skin texture of CZ which differentiates it from
diamond, some visible only under the microscope or loupe.
Dispersion: With a dispersive power better than
diamond (0.060 vs. 0.044) the more prismatic fire of CZ could
be seen by even an untrained eye.
Hardness: CZ has an 8 on the Mohs rigidity Scale
vs. a rating of 10 for diamonds.
Meaning CZ could only be scratched by sapphires
or diamonds
