Polar Star Diamond,

The polar star is an extremely sparkling diamond and considered to be "The brightest diamond ever seen". It is discovered in the mines of Golconda, in India. When found, it was 41.28 carats in weight with well shaped oval configuration. The diamond reflects similar luster and brightness of the celestial pole star and earned the name as "polar star diamond".

Qualities of the sparkling stone :

It is a D-colored, round cut, internally flawless clarity grade diamond, weighing 40 carats. The gem is a rare group of type II diamond, which is chemically pure and structurally perfect. The absence of nitrogenous and boron impurities makes this stone as "purest of the pure" of all diamonds. The internal cubic structure is also perfectly formed without any distortions in the atom. The distortion in atom has the capacity to impart color to the diamond. The structurally perfect nature of this stone makes it as a colorless diamond. These types of stones possess tremendous shinning.

History of the ideal diamond :

Joseph Bonaparte, the elder brother to Napoleon Bonaparte owned this glittering gem till 1815. He purchased this stone from Morton for 52,500 francs. The defeat of napoleon at Roche fort, forced Joseph Bonaparte to settle in United States and dispose all his possessions including the precious diamond. Later it was purchased by Princess Tatiana, wife of Prince Nicolai, minister of state properties and director of imperial theatres. The stone reminded in Nicolai family until the Russian Revolution. In 1917, it was given to Prince Felix, son of princess Zinnia. Later, Felix sold this ageless stone to Cartier's group, a renowned jewelry manufacturing industry. The present owner of the stone is a Sri Lankan diamond dealer, who purchased this gorgeous gem by paying a huge sum of 8 million Swiss francs.
